“Back in 1990, the idea of a few friends getting together to play basketball and possibly raise enough money for a small scholarship fund was just a dream,” said Rolando Ramirez, L.E.a.R.N President. “Twenty-one years later, that dream is alive and thriving and the best part of it is that we are helping deserving Oregon students reach their own dreams of going to college – something many of them never thought was possible until now.”
Established in 1986, the Latino Educational and Recreational Network (L.E.a.R.N.) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is committed to providing high quality educational and recreational activities specifically targeting Latino youth and their families. Our hope is to inspire and motivate participants to achieve academic and social excellence.
The Oregon Latino Basketball Tournament is our premiere event. This event is the largest Latino basketball tournament to take place in Oregon history. Over the last 23 years, the tournament has grown from just a few teams to nearly 85 registered teams with participants traveling from throughout the Northwest region and southern California.
